What is Colon Assessment Public-Private Partnership Programme (Colon PPP)?

Patients who are currently on the waiting list for colonoscopy in public hospitals, classified as stable cases, and fit for home bowel preparation and colonoscopy under ambulatory setting can choose a private specialist for colon assessment under the subsidy by the Hospital Authority.

 

What is the amount subsidised by the Government ?

Minimum co-payment of $1000

The Hospital Authority will offer a one-off fixed subsidy of $6,800 (without polypectomy) or $7,500 (with polypectomy) to each patient. Patients will only need to bear a minimum co-payment of $1,000. Waiver Eligible Patients may be entitled to enjoy the fee waiver arrangements under the programme.

 

Zero co-payment 

The recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance, persons with effective medical fee waiver certificate, Higher Old Age Living Allowance recipients aged 75 or above, the Hospital Authority will subsidised the co-payment fee of $1,000.

 

Who to receive subsidised colon assessment?

The Programme office under the Hospital Authority will issue invitation letters to patients in batches according to patients’ registered waiting time and clinical condition. Patients do not need to do any application. 

 

Patients can choose one participating private specialist from the list who will provide clinical assessment, colonoscopy procedure and explanation of results. For patient requiring biopsy and /or polypectomy, tissue specimen will be sent by the performing private specialist for histopathology examination. The private specialist will also discuss further treatment plan with the patient if appropriate

 

How to use the services of Quality Healthcare? 

Specialists under Quality HealthCare has registered as participating private specialists in this programme to provide clinical assessment, colonoscopy examinations and explanation of results to patients, so that they can receive colonoscopy and appropriate treatment as early as possible. Eligible patients will only need to bear a minimum co-payment of $1,000. Waiver Eligible Patients may be entitled to enjoy the fee waiver arrangements.
