
What is Glaucoma Public-Private Partnership Programme ?
The Glaucoma Public-Private Partnership Programme (Glaucoma PPP) is launched by the Hospital Authority (HA) in 2019 with aims to provide choice to patients for receiving private specialist services in the community.
Eligible person
Participant must
- have started to receive care for glaucoma at SOPCs for at least 12 months and be regarded as clinically stable
- be invited to enrol by the Glaucoma PPP Office
- Joined Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHealth)
Identified eligible glaucoma patients will be invited to enrol, on a voluntary basis, and select an enrolled private ophthalmologist from the list for management of their glaucoma condition.
Services package under this programme
Each participating patient will receive up to four subsidised consultations per year including consultations and specified drugs for treating glaucoma, and investigation services of up to one visual field (VF) test and one optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan per year to be provided by the private ophthalmologist.
Programme features and service fee
Under the Programme, participating patients only need to pay the same fee as for HA SOPC services. Currently, it is $80 per subsequent attendance, $15 per drug item, and $80 per investigation service.
Those who are Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Recipient, certificate holders for full or partial waiver of medical charges or Old Age Living Allowance Recipient aged 75 or above will enjoy the same fee waiver arrangements as for the HA’s services.
Under mutual agreement, patients may receive further services and treatment at their own expenses. Those who have participated in the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme can meet such additional charges from their Health Care Voucher accounts.
